An antique Caucasian Kazak rug. This “Eagle Kazak” has a tomato red madder field displaying ivory and green rayed medallion set between two ivory semi-circles. The pattern is totally bold and abstract, and the tonality is bright and saturated with a good yellow dye. These Eagle Kazak rugs are probably the most desirable of all Caucasian rugs, regardless of type or origin. The single medallion variant is the most iconic of this never-out-of-style group.
