Antique East Turkestan Khotan Gallery Rug

A wool pile of asymmetric knots on a cotton foundation. The persimmon field shows offset columns of octagonal open cassette guls, each with a central rosette. Four lesser guls are set particularly close together across the center. Flowering pomegranate bushes in vases serve as secondary elements. Fret corners anchor the field. The main polychrome border features slanting rain motifs and diminutive cloud heads, followed by a middle border with reversing T frets and an inner straw border.
