An antique Persian Kurdish rug. The weaver has cleverly extracted a turtle palmette and attendant half palmettes from an ivory border and employed then as a vertically oriented field pattern. The red border displays smaller, but similar, turtle palmettes as well as rosettes and “fish” leaves. A satisfying rural solution to an artistic rug design.
