An antique Persian Bakshaish carpet. From NW Persia, this antique, village Heriz area carpet has an open ivory field with a central medallion filled with colorful lines of small botehs and multiple rosette pattern borders of different widths. The wide plain rust outermost band is a feature of Bakshayesh carpets of this period. The two small female figures and the two dogs are folky depictions of village life.
