The slate field shows thin axes defining a stylized version of the classic “Vase carpet” allover pattern, with tilted palmettes, petal palmettes, irises, partial floral wreaths and upright bitonal oval palmettes. The potentially infinite pattern moves under all four borders. Rust rosette, “fish leaf” and reversing turtle border. “Eyes” at the ends of the turtles’ long arms. Solid and very compact weave. West Persian Kurdish town carpet. Good condition.
