A wool pile of asymmetric knots on a cotton foundation. Woven on a short warp, this unique piece displays four ecru-to-ivory leopards facing inward and outward on a strongly panel-abrash field ranging from dark indigo and navy to slate gray and muted blue-gray. Two conjoined ecru octagons extend along the center, filled with Herati-like elements and centered by floral vases in pale green, light blue, salmon, rust, taupe, and dark brown. Additional vases and tiny birds ornament the field, with similar motifs occupying the upper corners. The narrow inner ecru border features reversing fan palmettes, while the dark navy outer band displays a trapezoidal meander with rosettes.
