An antique Persian Heriz rug. There are fewer scatters than room size carpets from the Heriz district in NW Persia. This example has an ivory field supporting a warm madder red lobed subfield with an inner teal lozenge medallion. The vines and flowers (wine ?)are drawn in the characteristic Heriz angular style. The abrashed light blue border of this semi-geometric rustic rug has a reversing turtle palmette pattern with cream accents.
