Antique Persian Kurdish Rug

The ecru field is well covered by a textile-derived allover pattern of bouquets and prancing horses. A European chintz could be the pattern source. The rust colored border is more rustic than the field with joined schematic turtle palmettes and rosettes. The combination of a sophisticated field design and folky border pattern is often found on circa 1900 Persian rugs from villages.
