Antique Persian Mahal Gallery Carpet

A wool pile of asymmetric knots on a cotton foundation. This fairly short gallery-format piece features a light grey field with an allover, close pattern of rosettes and vertical stemlets. The tonality is subdued, with no color standing out. The strip-style main border displays reversing turtles with straw, green, or ecru centers. Two dark brown minor borders feature botehs on trapezoidal meanders.
