This antique west Persian rustic carpet shows a seven intermittent column version of the Harshang (“crab”) allover design with an ecru field supporting flattened discrete ragged palmettes, nine radiating flower arrays, ragged oval rosette, pointed ovals and trails of little flowers. The pattern reads top to bottom along the floral trails rather than as a neat patterning. Light blue is especially prominent. “Tangerine flower” and flattened rosette main border on dark brown. General even, light corduroy wear. Good contrast between field and frame.
