An antique Persian Malayer rug. The dark blue field supports a double lozenge pole medallion. The red lozenges are both stepped but of radically different sizes. Rosettes, small lozenges, and a stylized plant decorate the panels, and more lozenges and other small geometric devices are sprinkled about. The ivory main border displays a wavy smooth vine and simple flowers. Almost can be mistaken for a Caucasian rug in its boldness and straightforward presentation. The outer border of one end has an abrash (natural color variation), but no change in the floating rosette motives.
