Antique Persian Malayer Runner

A wool pile of symmetric knots on a cotton foundation. The muted dark olive-brown field is covered by a rust-red lattice supporting pinched diamonds in a half-drop arrangement. Each motif encloses a small diamond flanked by paired bracket elements, rendered in ivory, sand, pale tan, muted brown, and soft olive. The lighter elements form implicit diagonal lines across the field. The borders are worked in rust-red, ivory, beige, taupe, and brown, with the main border featuring stars and bars. Even wear, with slight reduction at the ends. An unusual and versatile size.
