An antique Persian Northwest carpet. This magnificent 18th century Khorassan carpet displays an allover diamond tile pattern derived from 17h century Kerman archetypes. The panels, in several reds, multiple blues, salmon, buff, ivory and straw, among other colors, display weeping willows, prunus flower arrays, fig trees, various garden flowers and palmette cruciforms in a totally random layout. The light blue border features doubly bent acanthus leaves and squarish palmettes in the Joshogan style. A ‘real rug’ from a distinguished east Persian urban workshop, not in Mashad or Herat.
