Antique Persian Serab Runner

An antique Persian Serab runner. The warm camel-tone brown field spaciously displays a long pole medallion punctuated by geometric lozenges, with stylized small flowers and rustic animals scattered about. The medium blue to teal colored main border has slanted sawtooth leaves and rosettes.  Such antique runners were woven by villagers on narrow looms and although specific local attributions are difficult, they are, like this one, honest and authentic folk creations made with quality materials and attention to detail.
