The antique west Persian village carpets of the Sultanabad type and period are often unique and thereby hard to describe. On the old ivory field are set strongly barbed bitonal curved C-shaped large leaves, “fish” leaves, ragged palmettes, “perfume flasks”, cross-shaped elements and many other semi-vegetal forms, all with details in rust and goldenrod. Main border of rough palmettes and lotus-leaf centered tilted palmettes. Medium-coarse weave, cotton foundation.
