A classical allover pattern of palmettes, cloud bands, and layers of scrolling vines closely occupies the scarlet ground of this finely knotted antique city carpet. Round palmettes in two styles alternate amidst vermiculate cloud bands and tiny flowers in the ivory border. The design is balanced and precisely executed.
