Antique Persian Tabriz Hagi Jalili Rug

An antique Persian Tabriz Hagi Jalili rug. An ecru scalloped medallion with four palmette pendants is set among spiral scrolls on an old ivory ground encompassing both field and border.  Big, roughly drawn rosettes feature in the corners of this antique short-warp antique mat.  The unusual format and vigorous drawing may point to a relatively early date in the ‘Hajji Jalili’ era, possibly before 1890.
