Antique Turkish Oushak Rug

An antique Turkish Oushak rug. The designer of this red Oushak scatter must have remembered Indo-Isfahan's, and like them, but in a wonkier, less disciplined manner, there are palmettes, cloud bands, and small interstitial flowers. The motives move freely without entangling vines or arabesques to limit their motion. The light border recedes behind the field.
