Antique Turkish Oushak Square Room Size Carpet

A wool pile of symmetric knots on a wool foundation. This oversquare urban piece displays an open, somewhat modified allover Harshang design of ragged palmettes, askew pointed cartouches, and a central cruciform, all set on a bone field. The main border features an open arrangement of hooked lozenges or diamonds, along with simple forked leaves. This is an unusual format, even for Oushak carpets.
