Modern Persian Tabriz Pictorial Rug

A wool pile of symmetric knots on a cotton foundation. This petite novelty rug depicts the obverse of a U.S. five-dollar note, with a bust portrait of Abraham Lincoln set within an oval medallion on a sand and ivory ground. The design is rendered in shades of gray, charcoal, tan, and black, with teal blue-green accents in the serial numbers and Treasury seal. Large numerals “5” appear in the four corners, while the denomination “FIVE DOLLARS” is displayed below. The Federal Reserve Bank of New York seal appears at the left. An amusing and unusual oddment.
