This 21st-century round carpet draws inspiration from Barbro Nilsson’s celebrated “Gula Rabatten” design, originally created in 1944 for the Märta Måås-Fjetterström workshop. Hand-knotted in Tibet, the composition reinterprets the design’s distinctive garden-like arrangement through a softly balanced field of stylized floral motifs, rosettes, and small geometric blossoms. A warm yellow-gold ground is animated by accents of rust, terracotta, brown, pale blue, gray, cream, and muted green.

The circular format enhances the rhythmic movement of the pattern, with clusters of blossoms radiating around a more concentrated central arrangement and extending toward the perimeter. A narrow outer border, punctuated with alternating floral devices, completes the composition. Combining botanical abstraction with the clarity and restraint associated with Scandinavian modernist textiles, this Tibetan hand-knotted carpet offers a contemporary interpretation of a classic mid-20th-century Swedish design language.
