Symmetric wool knots on a cotton foundation. This large scatter rug features a 16th-17th century Ottoman design, with a broken diamond lattice field, where each reserve displays triplets of large and small "Chintamani balls." The near-black border showcases an outward-oriented cloudband design in the Transylvanian style. The ends are finished with wide cream and near-black striped bands. This piece is a fine interpretation of classic styles. Additionally, the lattice is composed of geometric double tiger stripes, a common accompaniment to the Chintamani motif. The weave is moderate.
