A vintage Caucasian Kuba face bag. Dated 1939 and signed by Mohammed(?) Abbas, this unusual small weaving from the Zeychur district in the eastern Caucasus, has an abrashed (dye lot variation) “wave” border framing the ivory field (or wide inner border) which encloses a navy panel with inscription, date and jagged palmette. This is a pair to our 12450.
