A vintage European Cuenca Pictorial carpet. This carpet, most likely Cuenca, Spanish, copies an earlier prototype with a delightfully abrashed light blue squarish central medallion featuring two lobsters, on in the central shield, and four armorial shields with coronets in cartouches near the corners of the rough, old ivory honeycomb field. The sandy border shows a repeat of doubled, club-like devices. A rug for an aristocratic lobsterman.
