A vintage Indian Lahore carpet. Termed ‘Laristan’ in the carpet trade, this north Indian city carpet has a sand field displaying what at first glance is a Herati pattern, but actually has distinct leaves and floral elements. The brown main border has turtle palmettes and leaves. Laristan carpets often have relatively small scale allover patterns, making them particularly decorative.
