A vintage Persian Hamadan Pictorial rug. In the background is a bright red sky, in the middle a sandy waste, and up front is a slender lion, maned, long-tailed and tawny, oriented leftwards and standing between palm trees with lesser foliage beneath him. The image may derive from a print, photograph or blanket. In Persia, the lion is almost totally extinct. En suite to rug # 26458.
