A vintage Persian Kashan rug. This city rug has a pattern hop in the lower border. The weaver changed the design to a nested lozenge pattern which is repeated in the field in alternate ivory and red sections. Such pattern changes are usually a feature of village and tribal rugs, and are rarely seen on finely knotted urban creations. At the top of the field is a row of light blue lozenges.
