A vintage Persian Malayer rug. Strongly in the Heriz style mode, this west Persian scatter rug has partially stepped, pendant brown lozenge medallion on an abrashed brown to slate field decorated with serrated leaves, bits of vines and stylized palmettes. The central warm brown border employs round flowerheads and a stiff vine. The pattern is popular all over Persia from Azerbaijan and Kurdistan in the northwest to Kerman province in the southeast.
