A vintage Persian Malayer rug. Mazlagan rugs, from a village within the Hamadan/Malayer region, are known for their high quality workmanship and their unique designs of the lightning bolt pattern defining a central subfield, here a camel-tan with slate spandrels in a vertically poled rosette design which repeats in the cartouche medallion. The ivory border with its idiosyncratic reversing palmettes is another Mazlagan feature in this attractive rural scatter.
