A vintage Persian Malayer rug. This stylistically unusual west Persian village scatter has a Herati design writ large on a field strongly abrashed slate to pale blue-grey to medium brown. The palmettes are big and ragged, the ‘fish’ leaves erratic and the pattern is opened out with all sorts of eccentric elements. The design is denser towards one end and creates more space at the other. Many of the accents are in rust.
