Vintage Persian Malayer Rug

A vintage Persian Malayer rug. The three poles of small, rayed and nested diamonds with their attendant rosettes and bent ‘fish’ leaves ultimately descend from Herati archetypes and are set on the graphite ground. The plain sand corner fringed triangles keep the pattern in line while the equally sandy border of pentagons on a tendril frames everything.
