A vintage Persian Tabriz carpet. A 6 by 8 array of piecrust-edge octagons in the Caucasian manner stands out on the beige/old ivory/tan field with its “goosenecks” in the Kuba Konagend style. The well-filled charcoal main border is in an elaborate “Kufic” Caucasian style. This NW Persian city piece dates from the interwar period when Tabriz adaptations of Caucasian patterns were particularly popular.
