Vintage Persian Tabriz Pictorial Rug

A vintage Persian Tabriz Pictorial rug. An abrashed coral ground displays a welter of human and animal figures derived from European prints. The scales are mixed and the subjects include a central rabbit, swans, diminutive lions, camels and pyramids, giraffes, snakes, elephants, palm trees, human figures, both male and female in standing, running and dancing poses. All this activity is framed by a plain ivory narrow border.  This is a relatively finely woven rug that does not take itself seriously.
