Vintage Turkish Anatolian Pictorial Rug

A wool pile of symmetric knots on a wool foundation. This yastik, or cushion cover, displays two confronting lions with upraised tails on a medium-brown field. The left lion is rendered in charcoal to near-black, while the right is bright coral pink; both have accents in gray-blue, black, ivory, red, and orange. Each animal bears a triangular ornament on its visible flank. A charcoal-gray border of paired triangular hourglass motifs connected by diagonal bars surrounds the composition.
