Vintage Turkish Anatolian Rug

A vintage Turkish Anatolian rug. A rose-red field displays two columns each of five ovals defined by leafy outlines and including lesser, incomplete floral ellipses within. Between the ovals are eight petal rosettes. The whole effect is textile-like and ultimately goes back, although the weavers don’t reference the fact, to pre-Islamic sources.
