Vintage Turkish Oushak Room Size Carpet

A wool pile of symmetric knots on a cotton foundation. This interwar, room-size piece closely follows the Persian tradition, with a warm rust-orange to muted terracotta field densely covered by a delicate, small-scale allover pattern of cloud bands, palmettes, small ragged palmettes, and split-leaf arabesques in ivory, sand, beige, taupe, pale blue-grey, and soft brown. The muted light teal-green to sage-grey main border features birds, larger palmettes, and smaller floral elements accented in rust, beige, brown, and pale blue. Inner and outer sand-to-warm-ivory minor borders display ragged palmettes.
