A vintage Turkish Sivas rug. This is a creative interpretation of the famous early 16th century ‘Chelsea Carpet’ in the Victoria and Albert Museum in London. Two navy medallions, and half and quarter similar motives are set on a brown ground closely patterned with arabesques and vegetal elements. The broadly drawn reciprocal border is also derived from the original. A carpet with decorative character and historic reference.
