An antique American Hook rug. This borderless antique New England wool hooked scatter has a three column pattern or is it two columns? The eye moves the parts forward and back: crosses become squares, blocks flatten out, and are these really contoured elements or simply stripes? Very sophisticated trompe l’oeil in any case in mellow colors.
