An antique Bokhara Gallery carpet. This primarily red central Asian town carpet was woven by an urban group of Ersari weavers for the palace of a local governor or other important town magnates. The ivory main border, with its hooked, angularly meandering vine, appears on many different Turkmen carpets. Bokhara is the central Asian city which functioned as a gathering point for Turkoman rugs. The golden yellow accents are an Ersari touch.
