An antique Caucasian Karabagh carpet. Originally woven for the palace of a Czarist Russian aristocrat, this southern Caucasian town carpet has a black field almost totally covered by a hard-to-describe allover pattern of lozenges, flowers and strange geometric elements. Probably taken from a printed textile or a lacework design. These “Russian” Karabaghs resemble no other type of oriental rug. Be a Czar and buy one!
