Antique East Turkestan Khotan Long and Narrow Carpet

A wool pile of asymmetric knots on a cotton foundation. In the elongated k’ang format, the light blue-teal field displays two “moon” roundels flanking a central motif with a rust scroll border. Vases with pomegranates appear at each end of the field, with ecru fretwork triangles in the corners. The innermost border features colored squares and a slanting rain band, while the main border showcases polychrome cloud heads. Rare in this large size.
