An antique East Turkestan Khotan rug. Five columns of colorful octagons enclosing four pairs of rams’ horn motives completely cover the field of this unusual east Turkestan oasis city scatter, leaving only small hooked minor lozenges between. The layout is basically Turkoman in inspiration. The brown border sets a trapezoidal meander with rosettes and small triple leaves. Mauve, sand, yellow, dark brown light blue and pale blue are among the accent tones.
