Antique European Cuenca Carpet

An antique European Cuenca carpet. This yellow ground Spanish carpet has an allover textile pattern in ivory with dark blue accents in a Renaissance velvet style.  Conjoint dark blue dragons form S’s on the matching gold border. Although this carpet is relatively recent, it accurately reproduces the 16th-century style. As with most Spanish carpets, it has single warp knots and single wefts.
