An antique European Oushak carpet. This softly-toned scatter has a clearly Caucasian Kazak geometric field pattern of a giant beige cross with a sub-medallion with points and lateral tabs. On the other hand, the tan-beige border displays a broadly drawn turtle palmette pattern much in the Persian Heriz style. This mixing was popular in the west Anatolian Oushak workshops in the early 20th century.
