An antique Indian Lahore rug. Taken directly from a rug book illustration of a small 18th century Kurdish Garden Carpet. Four zig-zag patyern water channels meet in the central red and navy pool, with floral and octogramme parterres along the sides. This finely woven, strongly colored northern Indian town rug is an excellent example of the historicizing trends in carpet design of the interwar period. It is slightly smaller than the originals.
