Antique Khotan Carpet

The red field of this Central Asian oasis town kellegi (long rug) shows characteristic vases at the ends supporting a central round petal medallion. Rosette and blossom branches extend from the central motif and the supporting stems. Hooked rosettes and scalloped rosettes extending buds are symmetrically placed, but the fret corners have shrunken to mere vestiges.
