An antique Persian Afshar rug. The light straw field of this SE Persian rustic rug displays a version of the popular Gol-Hennai (Hena flower) repeating design of a broken diamond lattice enclosing a single flower type. The Afshar weavers employ almost every design imaginable in Persian rugs, from totally tribal to utterly urban. The Gol-Hennai design is most often seen on Mahal and other Arak area rugs. Afshar scatters are often in squarish formats, as here.
