An antique Persian Bakhtiari Gallery carpet. The notably abrashed beige to dove grey to slate ground of this west central Persian Chahar Mahal carpet is patterned by a broken irregular lattice of large, ivory forked arabesques enclosing palmettes, detailed in dark brown, salmon, red-brown, straw and ivory. The red-brown main border has botehs and “horror mask” palmettes. This rustic gallery kellegi is strongly drawn and probably unique in general design conception.
