A wool pile of symmetric knots on a wool foundation. Distinguished by outstanding color contrasts, a red field, goldenrod main border, medium blue secondary border, ecru details, and an ecru tertiary border, this piece is not from Bakshayesh or another Heriz-district workshop, but was likely removed from a long rug woven in an unknown Northwest Persian village. It carries a somewhat Caucasian aspect, though it is more likely from just south of the Arax River. The minor borders are often associated with rugs attributed to the Saliani area of the Caucasus.
