An antique Persian Bakshaish runner. A beautifully abrashed rust-red madder open field displays a pole medallion of seven lozenges in navy, cerulean and camel, all with lateral long arrow extenders. The medium blue border has a version of the Azerbaijani slanted leaf and rosette pattern. ‘Bakshaish’ is a trade term for certain antique high-quality Heriz rugs, and this one certainly has the wool quality, natural dyes, and fine condition.
